Monica, Chandler and Phoebe discover that they can eavesdrop on Ross & Charlie and Joey & Rachel through the walls of the hotel. Both new couples decide to wait before proceeding with their relationships, until the men can talk to each other. Ross tells Joey on the plane ride back to New York, but Joey can't quite yet. Later, Ross walks in on Joey and Rachel kissing. Meanwhile, Monica combats her poofy hair by getting corn rows put in, and Phoebe discovers that Mike has a girlfriend.

Summary
Everyone is still in Barbados after Ross’s keynote address, all trying to cope with different problems. Ross kissed Charlie even though she is still dating Joey. Joey and Rachel kissed and worry about how they are going to tell Ross. Phoebe’s ex-boyfriend, Mike, followed Phoebe to the island and proposed to her, despite still being in a relationship with someone else. And Monica has really big hair due to the humidity and Chandler is having a hard time not making fun of his wife.
Phoebe, Monica and Chandler learn about the drama between the others by listening through the hotel walls. They hear Joey and Rachel’s conversation on one side and Ross and Charlie’s on the other. Ross decides to confess to Joey that he wants to date Charlie and Joey wants to admit to Ross that he has feelings for Rachel. After several tries, Ross tells Joey but Joey doesn’t tell Ross. Meanwhile, Monica gets her hair done into cornrows and is thrilled by the beads and shells at the ends of her hair. The others are even more horrified with her hair than before. Monica insists on keeping the cornrows until her hair gets tangled in the shower curtain.
Back in New York, Phoebe tells Mike’s girlfriend the bad news on the day that just happens to be her birthday. Ross, still not aware that Joey and Rachel are in a relationship, is shocked to see them kissing.
